Teenagers' subcultures

First of all we should give a definition of this term to know what we are going to talk about. Subculture is a subdivision of a national culture or an enclave within it with a distinct integrated network of behavior, beliefs, and attitudes. This is a universal definition of the tern subculture, but we are interested not at general definition but at peculiar type of subculture - the modern teenagers' subculture. Conditions of modern life make modern parents workaholics who work days and nights and have no time to communicate to their children. More over developing of nowadays technologies and entertainment industry gives us a lot of opportunities to express ourselves and to pick up the style of life we want to lead. The only problem is that a number of possibilities are so huge that there's no chance to make the right choice without help.

Anyway we try to do our choice on our own as we believe that no one except us knows what we need. As a result everyone is to busy to notice that someone next to you is confused and need your help. Usually that 'someone' is our children, teenagers who have lost in the enormous world of possibilities and choices. They feel themselves forgotten and abandoned and as a result they feel themselves different, but they can't say it to you as you are to busy so they trying to show it to you. They find the way out in deferent movements started by the same 'abandoned and different', usually these movements based on some interests like music, art or else.

Teenagers unite in groups, they create their own rules, policy and, off course, they have the main idea that is serves as base for the whole movement. Every member of such unit or movement oppose himself to society, he tries to show that he is different, usually the result of this opposing is certain cloth style, extremely different from other people's style. Nowadays there are a lot of such subcultures, they are: bikers, Goths, Satanists, metallists, rockers, punks, the Rastafarians, rappers, skinheads, furry, football fans, hackers, crackers, hippies, mods, glamour devotees etc.

The variety of teenagers'' subcultures boggle everyone's mind. Every single taken subculture has nothing in common to other subcultures; it's completely different and peculiar. Still there's one common feature for all the movements: the main idea of every subculture is that members of this unit is special but the rest of the people are faceless and boring fools.
